21 Years of Sonic the Hedgehog!

Today marks the 21st anniversary of Sonic the hedgehog and we have a LOT of Sonic news just in time!

  • An HD version of Sonic Adventure 2 is set to be released on the 3rd of October this year for Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and most likely Steam.
  • SEGA SuperStars tennis and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is coming to Mac computers this season!
  • The online Sonic Merchandise store has just been opened for the USA today in time for Sonic’s 21st anniversary!
  • A ton of Sonic Merchandise has been announced to come to the online store later this year which includes a Sonic Gumball machine, Sonic Vinyl figures, Sonic Meccanno, Modern & Classic Sonic apparel and accessories, Sonic & Nike partnership products, a Sonic Archie Comics “buy montly” deal in Germany, Sonic Archie Comics coming in an album format in French (in June this year), an English translation of The History of Sonic book by Pix’N Love (Set to be released at the end of June), a Where’s Wally/Waldo Sonic edition book, Football inspired Sonic apparel, more Sonic figurines & plushies (coming this season) and finally Malu Holland  has licenced some Sonic clothing including sweatshirts, hats, caps and belts (coming June this year). Whoa.
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed is coming November 2012 and has been confirmed for the Wii U.
  • Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz is getting some “Sonic Birthday” DLC.
  • Summer of Sonic Tickets have sold out. Much more Summer of Sonic news has also been also been announced on the official blog.
  • And last but not least, Crush 40 have released two of their new songs – Sonic Youth and Rise Again  on iTunes! No news about when their other song – One of those days – is going to be released, though most likely soon. Maybe. Unfortunatelly, these songs aren’t available on iTunes worldwide, if you live in a country where it hasn’t been released, then don’t fret, you can listen to it here!

That’s A LOT of Sonic news! Now let’s hear some other news…

Another Nintendo Direct has just been released, focusing on 3DS titles. There’s something cool you might like to know about if you don’t have a 3DS already (and possibly not that cool if you do, or it mightn’t bother you) at the start of the video! Watch it here!

Hopefully all of that will keep you busy!
