Mario and Sonic 2012 3DS Demo and trailer, Sonic PC news and more AWESOME Sonic-ness!

SO MUCH SONIC NEWS! Where do I start?! Well how about here…

Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games News

A M&S 2012 Demo for the 3DS is set to be available to download from the Nintendo eShop in America on January 26th and an unset date in Europe…no words about it being available anywhere else at the moment though I reckon it may have a chance of being released on the eShop in Australia as there already have been two 3DS game demos released and by the looks of things there’s gonna be HEAPS more!

In other news about M&S 2012, SEGA have just released a trailer for the 3DS game showing all of the different styles you can play the game in, other than the standard d-pad and circle pad; etc

Moving on…

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 News

It looks like Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II may be seeing a spring release date! (GMT Standard time) Why do we think this? Archie comics have set to release an issue based on the game around that time. Archie have never created a Sonic comic based on one of the official games before its actual release date, therefore it’s likely the game will also be released by then!

Also, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will be seeing a PC release! It was confirmed by SEGA that it will be released on PC later this year, so we may have to wait a bit, but for me it’s good news that it’s being released on that platform, as the only other device I have that it’s being released on is my iPod Touch which wouldn’t have enough space because of all my other Sonic…MOVING RIGHT ALONG…

SEGA  have started another one of those ‘Concept Art Fridays’, this time for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2. Here’s the concept art they’ve given us so far…

Looks like the first two drawings are the wheel switches from Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Marble Garden Zone, while the final drawing on the right is a new badnik! Check back next week and I’ll post the next three illustrations!

And now…

A truckload of Sonic news for PC!

Instead of me going into in depth detail about everything, let me just tell you the Sonic titles that have been recently released for PC…

Sonic CD

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Sonic Generations (Demo)

Also, Sonic Generations DLC is now available! And if you download Sonic CD, you’ll get some special bonus Sonic content in the game – Spiral Knights, including a Metal Sonic costume and Tails costume! You can download any of these titles via Steam. Speaking of Steam, there is a current weekend deal with 50% – 75% off most Sonic titles, giving some good deals like Sonic Generations for $24.97 USD and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing for $7.49!

Looks like Sonic’s finally making a comeback! And, this is a RETRO Sonic game! Just imagine how good it’ll be when they put a NEW Sonic game on the PSN!

Well, you’d think I’d be done with all this Sonic news and you may be thinking “Well that’s all good, but I wouldn’t mind hearing some news about some NEW Sonic media from scratch…” FIRSTLY, check out my last post and SECONDLY, Luckily I’ve saved the best news for last. Here’s the BRAND NEW stuff you may be after!

Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing Sequel?

The question mark’s there because it’s still only a rumor, but that’s no reason to not get excited, as the evidence gives a high chance! Basically The Sonic Stadium have received word from a Tipster, who wishes to remain anonymous, that there may be a new Sonic and SEGA All-Stars racing game. The tipster recently spoke to a high ranking staff member at development studio Sumo Digital, and when queried about new projects, the developer gave the reply below…

“Now working on another title for Sega on 3DS, VITA and WiiU. [The] title we are working on is top secret but the last game we did for them was Sonic And Sega All-Star Racing, so the logical conclusion would be… :) ”

So as you can see, that’s almost solid proof that there’s going to be a new Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Game!

And now for the final HUGE Sonic news…

The sites Sonic Wrecks and TSSZ News recently reported that one of Sonic’s creators – Yuji Naka, may have spilled the beans on something awesome. In one of his latest Facebook and twitter posts, he mentions that he visited the Marza Animation Studios, the place where the animated short; Night of the Werehog and most of the Sonic game’s CGI were made. He mentions that they are in the process of making a Sonic movie! Now before you go running around, hogging video game forums everywhere, telling everybody this, I’d just like to make clear that this is only currently a rumor, as we aren’t 100% sure that by “movie” he meant full feature-long stand-alone movie, or a cutscene for an upcoming game, but the reason why it’s likely to be a movie is because SEGA haven’t announced any new Sonic games yet other than Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, in which there will be no CGI (Presumably, as Sonic 4: Ep 1 didn’t contain any). The only other unannounced Sonic game that is still a rumor is Sonic Dimensions, though I’m guessing they haven’t started making CGI for this yet, as if it does exist, it’s most likely only early in development, though I can’t say for sure. This is probably the only other thing Yuji Naka would be making CGI for and you’d think that when he said “movie” that he’d mean an ACTUAL movie, right? But hey, something to talk about for sure! Are you excited?

Well anyway, that’s (finally) all the Sonic News for now, but seeing how quick that came about, there’ll most likely be more soon! But until then…
